The water is a tad bit cold…

…but I have taken the plunge into the vast blogworld…

And without further ado, how’s about a New Year’s Day 2007 post?

This morning I made cranberry scones a la Farmgirl Fare and did they ever turn out yummy!

I also made the holiday pumpkin bread recipe I found somewhere on the internet — it was originally supposed to be my co-workers Christmas gifts (they received homemade biscotti <tips hat to the aforementioned Farmgirl> and chocolate dipped pretzel rods instead).

Five cups of flower and four cups of sugar didn’t seem quite right to me — but I checked other recipes and well, those amounts didn’t seem out of line for two loaves. However my largest mixing bowl didn’t begin to hold everything I was pouring and stirring into it. I divided the batter all in half and stirred it between two mixing bowls. So far so good.

I lined my two loaf pans with parchment paper — did I mention that Farmgirl is brilliant? I poured the batter in the pans, put them in the oven.

And remembered I forgot the pumpkin pie spice.

<Edit: spices schmices… yeah, it might have been better with than without, but it’s still edible. Really! ;^) >
