Put another log on the fire…
September 15, 2007The temperature here is around 35 degrees this morning.
Three weeks from now, such a temperature wouldn’t be out of the ordinary. And such temps are usually accompanied by trees in the beginnings of their fall colors. Not so this time — and it is weird.
I am not looking forward to going out to see what flowers made it through the night and which ones are goners.
Oh — and I hadn’t mentioned that I saw yet another hummingbird moth — a different, smaller one — flitting around the remains of the phlox Thursday over the noon hour. I hope he managed to find a warmish place to spend the night.
So, as DH took off for his church meeting, I told him to find some firewood somewhere.
We’s gonna have a fire!!
DH hates to be cold, but it’s too early to turn on the heat. And now that we know our chimney is in good repair, there’s no reason not to get a blaze burning to warm up the living room for the day.
Meanwhile — here’s a list of what I’d like to accomplish today:
Music for tomorrow.Slideshow for tomorrow.(You gotta love that last minute — otherwise nothing would get done…)- Dig through boxes upstairs. Don’t know why exactly, but it’s cool enough up there now to putz around and reorganize.
- Clean out hall closet. Yep, that’s the same hall closet, Sylvia…
Laundry laundry laundry. The cold water is not working correctly — barely any cold water comes out, so the tub takes forever to fill — so I crank back the Rinnai to 98 degrees to do everything on a warm/warm setting just to get the tub filled. Really must get that fixed.Sit and read something other than the newspaper. And stay awake while doing it.
UPDATE: Since H was going to be in B-town and half way to O-town anyway, DH thought I should invite her over cuz we’s havin’ a fire! It didn’t take any cajoling at all — H was here & set about lighting the fire and over the course of the afternoon we had s’mores and brats and s’more s’mores — and repeated the s’mores again Sunday afternoon.
Yep — all that healthy eating went out the window this weekend.
Oh. well. Yes, Miz Scarlett, tomorrow’s another day…

A pox on that closet! LOL
)
Last minute works good for me…. I work better under pressure anyway.
My word, 35*??? ! You are farther north that I imagined. We’re still a seasonable 51* in the mornings.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Good – you need something when the weather hits 35! Yikes. I still miss a fire…the smell, the wood crackling and popping. One of the FEW good things I find about cold weather!
