…minor, in the scheme of things…
May 12, 2008The plan was to welcome J & H back home from their Great Adventure this past Sunday, and being Mother’s Day I thought it would be simpler if we stayed away from the restaurants and ate lunch at home. We wanted to get filled in on all their escapades (yes, there were many — too many to recount here…)
So I thought “roast potatoes carrots onions in the crockpot why not” and I had already made the rhubarb crisp. Went to the store, found a mighty fine arm roast and late Saturday night put the fixins’ in the crockpot.
I unplugged DH’s cell phone from the kitchen outlet, and plugged it back in the living room outlet.
That was all it took.
I went back through the kitchen to the dining room for something… then thought – duh, turn on the crockpot…
Sunday morning I did not wake to the tantalizing aroma of roast potatoes carrots onion wafting from the crockpot.
Hmmm.
Well, I know I turned it on…
ARGH! I didn’t plug it in.
WAH!!!
Recovering after such a snafu is so much easier than say, a tornado or earthquake. A box of deli fried chicken, instant potatoes and canned baked beans saved the day.
I wish it was as easy for everyone else. But I know it is not.
A daily dose of perspective is good for the soul.

I’m not sure I’m ready to admit how many times I have done that….
Love
Sylvia
