Too lazy for a proper post…

July 24, 2009

…so I resort to yet another meme:

Have Any Pets?: Yes, a cairn terrier. She is a big dog in a little package, fearless except when it comes to buzzing insects.
Have Any Children?: Two girls. All growed up.
Smoke?: No
Drink?: Water, tea, lemonade. I love lattes.
Exercise?: five days a week is the goal
Spend Your Life On Facebook?: No, I don’t have an account. It would be too embarrassing not to be friended – yet annoying if friended by flybys. Am I missing the point?
Twitter?: Just joined Twitterdom the other night. I am beginning to think I am so private that I can’t get any followers…
Play On A Sports Team?: ha ha ha ha ha ha
Belong To Any Organizations?: No.
Love Your Job?: Mostly. Bits of it. Around the edges.
Like To Cook?: Used to.  Trying to get back into it. I made Mr. Food’s pulled chicken. Pretty yummy, that.
Play An Instrument?: Guitar, but not as well as I would like. Piano, but not as good as others would have liked. It’s a long story.
Sing?: Yes.
Dance?: Well, the last time was at my cousin’s pirate-themed birthday party. It was her 50th – so we weren’t exactly kids…hmmm.
Speak Multiple Languages?: Really tried to learn Spanish.
Swim?: Oh no. The swimsuit has not been made yet.
Paint?: Nope.
Write?: Well…somewhat. I try to write well.
Ski?: Please. You are kidding, right?
Juggle?:
No
Do you wish you lived somewhere else?: Not really. Moved enough that nowhere really feels like home, so guess it doesn’t matter.
Do you like roller coasters?: I LOVE roller coasters!
Enjoy spending time with your Mother?: Yes.
Ever think about the price of gasoline?: Once in a while…especially when I knew I should have filled up the night before the price went up. Or vice versa.
Sleep with a fan on?: Yes.
Have a good handle on spelling?: Yes.
Ever type “kik” instead of “lol?: No. But I have spelled “xlwdls” as “xlwdsl” before. How embarrassing.
Know how to play chess?: Not really a board game player. Except for Monopoly.
Ever miss being a little kid?: All the time.

THAT’S what they are called?!

December 12, 2008

Okay, so I was looking for a Friday meme and came across this:

EAR WORMS
Ear worms are those annoying little songs that get stuck in your head. Sometimes they are the last song you hear on the radio before you go into the office, sometimes they just randomly pop in.

  1. What is a common ear worm that you get? Don’t get them very often, but at one point that “Tears on My Guitar” song or whatever it is made me pull my hair out…
  2. How long do they last? Not longI get the intermittent type.
  3. What do you do to get rid of them? I start humming or running another favorite tune in my head.
  4. What is the worse ear worm you’ve ever had? “It’s a Small World”
  5. Do you get some guilty pleasure in passing the ear worm along? Not intentionally…but once I see a migrating ear worm, I am ruthless.

Not feeling very original today.

July 25, 2008

Five in a Row

1. Name one thing you do everyday. Waking up comes to mind; everything else is subject to The Mood Of The Day.

2. Name two things you wish you could learn. I’ve pretty much given up learning to play the guitar any better than I do right now, but I keep hoping for a miracle pill. Ditto speaking in Spanish.

3. Name three things that remind you of your childhood.  Coffee aroma reminds me of being at Grandma Rutherford’s; homemade chocolate chip cookies remind me of being at Grandma T’s farm; flowers remind me of the neighbor lady’s garden.

4. Name four things you love to eat but rarely do. Pie, coconut shrimp, butter pecan ice cream, homemade mac & cheese

5. Name five things that make you feel good. Flower gardening, music, looking at old pictures, dark chocolate, meditating.

Only because I read to the end…

June 13, 2008

…of Sylvia’s post where she says: “OK, so I tag everyone who has read this! LOL!” that I feel duty-bound to comply — so without further ado, here goes nuttin’!

The Rules:
~Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
~Link the person(s) who tagged you.
~Mention the rules on your blog.
~Tag 6 following bloggers by linking them.
~Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged.

…but if you have read this far, consider yourself tagged…

Quirks? I have a few:

  1. Mid-morning snack at work consists of string cheese or milk and citrus fruit salad.
  2. My left contact goes in before my right, thus disrupting the whole of contact-weardom.
  3. I watch Dog Tales via the computer every Sunday morning.
  4. I collect obituaries. No, not every one I read!
  5. I hate shopping.
  6. …but I don’t mind buying over the internet.

So many books…why can’t I find one of mine??

January 30, 2008

NP: the space heater. Still very cold…

So Sylvia tags me with a book meme — ooooh! What fun!

Rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

But then I am quite dismayed. The nearest book is the one my DH is reading…

  1. Scarlet by Stephen R. Lawhead
  2. …page 123
  3. Fifth sentence…found.
  4. Sigh — here go the next three sentences: It is said he killed his wife for burning his Sunday pork chop in the pan–strangled her with his own bare hands. Personally, I do not believe this. Not a word. (Note to self: have DH move his books…)
  5. Okay — so a different spin on the tag thing: I’m tagging my anonymous readers…Aw come on… I know you are out there… all, um — well, I hope there are five of you. Maybe leave a comment…

November 4, 2007

1. Name one person who made you laugh last night? I think it was Lionel Hardcastle on “As Time Goes By”…love that show!

2. What were you doing at 0800? Let’s see. DH was working on his church stuff…and I was…um, waiting so I could do mine…if it weren’t for Saturday night, nothing would get done for Sunday…oh yeah, I was watching something on PBS… (update: oh duh… we weren’t doing any of that stuff at 8 AM…it was 8 PM, which would be 1600…um, right?)

4. What happened to you in 2006? I don’t remember…nothing important apparently.

14. What excites you? Hard to say. Hmmm…maybe a good concert.
